My Personal Story-Why I Needed To Change
I’ve been where you are-uncertain about the future and searching for stability. After serving in the forces, I transitioned into the maritime security industry, At first, it felt like a good fit, but the piracy threats declined, and the industry changed. Companies started cutting corners and hiring cheaper labour, making my position unstable. I knew I needed a new direction. I explored various options, but nothing seemed to stick. In 2020, I returned home to take a course, but then the world shut down due to COVID. That’s when I stumbled across a YouTube video about what was then SFM, now Launch You.
The message resonated with me, so I clicked ‘Apply’ and started the course. Even though I tried to continue my work abroad I faced challenges- like unreliable Wi-Fi-but I kept on pushing forward. This journey taught me the importance of adaptability, resiliency and finding a path that aligns with my values and skills. After returning home in 2021, I continued with the Launch You course, but life pulled me back out to work, and I faced the same challenges-unreliable internet and the constant uncertainty of the maritime security industry. Eventually I had to leave that field altogether as the piracy threats declined even more and the jobs dried up.
I pivoted to the security industry, completing my door supervisor course and seeking work locally, yet even there, job security was shaky. When I faced another potentially job loss due to location change, it hit me: I needed to take back control of my future. That’s when I doubled down on Launch You’s new curriculum. I realized that building an online business was my path to freedom, more time, financial stability, and true self-investment. I asked myself, “Where do I want to be in 1-5 years? Still at the mercy of unstable jobs, or building something of my own?” If you are reading this, ask yourself the same question. Will you be your own boss, or stay stuck in a system that doesn’t serve you?
